ZOMG Sci Wrote MKR!
Mar. 11th, 2007 02:39 pmUh, I'm going to dispense with the proper format.
It's a kind of Umi/Clef drabble (not overt and more introspective) and has no spoilers. And unedited (its proper that's a fragment, isn't it?).

Seven hundred and thirty four years.
An unfathomable difference that was reflected only in his eyes.
Those eyes held years of looking at a world of war, pain, death, instability, nonsensical violence, irrevocable choices. But also the ordinary stuff of life within a divide of seven hundred and thirty four years.
Umi looked into the eyes of Cephiro’s Master Mage and saw all of that pain, all of that life… all of those years bottled up inside of a child’s face.
It was like the story of Peter Pan that her mother had told her in chunks when she was very young.
Clef never grew up and was trapped in a Neverland that only his eyes sometimes escaped from…but even then, sometimes the visions they held weren’t the one’s of pirates and fantastic products of innocence.
He had witnessed and taken in so much that, although he looked like a child, his eyes radiated an overwhelming sort of distance.
Umi wondered, walking out of the room and following the curving corridor to her bedroom, if she would ever be able to bridge that distance of seven hundred and thirty four years between them.

Seven hundred and thirty four years.
But her eyes simply reflected a purity, an innocence, untouched by time and the world’s evils.
Umi’s eyes always were like water which always washed away all of the sediment built up over time.
Clef often saw her regarding him with that unfathomable gaze of hers. She was silently appraising who knew what within him.
As her quietly open the door to walk out of the throne room, Clef wondered if there could ever be a bridge over the seven hundred and thirty four years between them.

milieva’s ruminations over the age gaps in her couples…in case you’re wondering, seven hundred and thirty four years are the number of years between them.
